Discover Wines from South Africa (SOUTHAMPTON)
THE HAMPSHIRE WINE SCHOOL IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE and this particular tasting is therefore cancelled
Following the advice from our Government on Monday 16th March evening to avoid non-essential travel and contact, we will be offering customers who have booked an event in both March and April, a transfer to another event later in the year.
At the moment the situation regarding Covid 19 is changing on a daily basis, so it's difficult to plan, so when we have a better understanding of when we can run events again, we will be scheduling lots of exciting wine tasting events, as I think (hope) there will be pent up demand for people to go out and enjoy themselves. Normal life will resume after this current crisis and if you are thinking of purchasing an open gift voucher, rest assured our popular events will be as enjoyable in the future as they are right now.
Please take care, stay healthy, and be kind to one another ...
Ms Cecile Bergart, Proprietor
NEW TERMS AND CONDITIONS, FROM 17/03/20:

WINES FROM WONDERFUL SOUTH AFRICA
For almost a century, South Africa was dominated by one cooperative, KWV, producing large volumes of very average wine. With the end of Apartheid in 1990 came the end of KWV’s domination eventually leading to privatisation of the wine industry. This freedom has allowed diversity to flourish and South African wines are becoming very exciting, especially with Bordeaux-style blends and Chenin Blanc, plus Pinotage, the pure South African variety. This is where we come in …
South Africa is indeed one of the newest, fastest-growing entrants onto our supermarket and off-licence shelves. It has experienced a meteoric improvement in quality in the last five years, as well as an explosion of new winemakers, wineries, and range of wine styles. We shall thus look at some of the leading winemakers from South Africa and contrast international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc with the indigenous grape varieties that South Africa has made their own - the delicious Pinotage and Chenin Blanc (aka Steen). You will experience some excellent wines that may change your view of this country’s wine!
All tastings include: 6 stunning wines, use of ISO professional glasses, PowerPoint presentation and professionally written Tasting Notes to take away with you.
This event would make an original and unique gift for your loved one ... why not buying a gift voucher?
