Have you ever wondered which wine to serve during your Christmas lunch or what goes well with cold turkey on Boxing Day? – well this is the tasting for you!
The evening is aimed at demonstrating which wines go well with different types of food - ESPECIALLY WITH CHRISTMAS FOOD IN MIND! Our detailed food and wine matching workshop will help you understand which wines to pair with a wide variety of meat, poultry (turkey included!), fish vegetarian dishes as well as desserts (mince pies too!) and cheese.
The matching of food and wine is a matter of personal taste. There are no hard and fast rules, but just remember it is easiest to think of wine as a sauce and match the strength of flavours and weight of the dish with the wine. To learn more, join us on our mouth-watering workshop!
We start with a refreshing, crisp Sancerre, and move on to more complex combinations with a Chablis with delicious smoked salmon. Lighter, elegant reds (Pinot Noir) to accompany simple but tasty rich meat pate or turkey with stuffing, and heavier, spicier reds (Shiraz/Grenache) that match perfectly with complex-flavoured meat dishes with herbs and garlic as well as plates of charcuterie. We will conclude with an eye-opening red sweet wine that surprisingly go as well with blue cheeses (eg Stilton and Roquefort) as they do with chocolate puddings.
After the workshop you will have a good basis of knowledge that will help you combine wines with food and enhance your eating pleasure! All the tasting food & wine is included in the price. It is THE ideal occasion to learn about how to pair Christmas food & wine a few weeks before the real event! And with sommelier Cecile at the rescue, all your questions shall be answered in a professional way, thanks to her many years of 'food & wine pairing' expertise.
All tastings include: minimum of 8 types of nibbles and 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, PowerPoint presentation, full tasting notes, use of ISO professional tastings glasses.
