'Weird & Wonderful' Wine Producing Countries, from China to India (WINCHESTER)

'Weird & Wonderful' Wine Producing Countries, from China to India (WINCHESTER)

THE HAMPSHIRE WINE SCHOOL IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE and this particular tasting is therefore cancelled

Following the advice from our Government on Monday 16th March evening to avoid non-essential travel and contact, we will be offering customers who have booked an event in both March and April, a transfer to another event later in the year.

At the moment the situation regarding Covid 19 is changing on a daily basis, so it's difficult to plan, so when we have a better understanding of when we can run events again, we will be scheduling lots of exciting wine tasting events, as I think (hope) there will be pent up demand for people to go out and enjoy themselves. Normal life will resume after this current crisis and if you are thinking of purchasing an open gift voucher, rest assured our popular events will be as enjoyable in the future as they are right now.

Please take care, stay healthy, and be kind to one another ...

Regards,

Cecile

Ms Cecile Bergart, Proprietor

If I drink one more glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand, I will scream! It's everywhere, from restaurants' wine lists to supermarkets shelves, to my own fridge (guilty). But today I feel like having something different! So if you feel like rebelling too, then come and join me for a fabulous tour of the World for 'weird and wonderful' wine-producing countries

Let's discover wines from Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Georgia, Slovenia, Macedonia, India, China and Thailand. Yes, you've heard me right, YOU WILL TASTE AT LEAST 7 WINES, and you're in for a treat as we experience their own versions of Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz or Bordeaux-style wines. Yes, you've heard me say that grapes like the sun but they do not like the heat, so how will they cope under the extremely harsh sun of Thailand or Brazil?

Climate change and global warming do mean that our "old" wine producing regions are now changing beyond recognition and that we will very soon have to find new areas to plant our vines. Hampshire is a very good example of this fast change as we now see higher temperatures and more hours of sunshine over here than ever before. Simply try a Sparkling Wine from Hampshire to taste the difference between today and 10 years ago ... and imagine now how much better things are going to get in the forthcoming years, hence why even Champagne growers such as Taittinger and Vranken-Pommery are coming to the South of England to plant vines and soon make wine! The World of Wine is therefore fast changing and we need to adapt to climate change. Therefore, get ready for an eye-opening experience ... your world of wine will never be the same again!

Especially when you find out that China is now the 5th largest wine producer and consumer in the world!!! So let's see what makes them stand out from the crowd ... and could they possibly be producing your next favourite New World wine? Let's find out together ...

This tasting includes: 7 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, PowerPoint presentation and use of professional ISO tastings glasses.

This course is perfect for people who are into their wines but want to learn more about wine in a relaxed environment, as this tasting is sure to open your eyes to a whole new world! This evening makes a great present and can be bought as a Gift Voucher for just £27.50.

Your tutor, Cecile Bergart, is from the Old World producing country that is France. However, she loves a wine-related challenge and adores running this particular tasting! She is a published Champagne and Wine Educator, a guest champagne expert for Champagne World Magazine, for Channel 4 'Superscrimpers', a regular guest speaker on BBC Radio Solent, as well as being an approved staff educator for Marks and Spencer. Trust us when we say that you will be in good hands!
