Gin Tasting 101 (SOUTHAMPTON)
Lubrication to your education is provided by our resident gin instructor, Kevin White, at the friendly White Star Tavern which will be turned into a 'gin palace' for 2 hours of pure tasting pleasure. Be guided through the fascinating history of gin and learn why we love it so much!
Are you acquainted with Madam Geneva? Maybe you are without knowing it. If you've ever drunk a G&T then you know her already, for she is gin. But gin is not just gin as this tasting tutorial will reveal. You will become experts in botanicals, and taste the difference between London Dry and Plymouth gin.
Of all alcoholic drinks, gin has the most dramatic and colourful history and when it comes to using the excuse 'for medicinal purposes only' then that really applies to gin because it was invented by a doctor to treat stomach ailments!
Kevin will give you some nifty tasting tricks and teach you how to make some top-class gin-based cocktails (including the infamous Gin Martini). During the session, you’ll taste 5 premium gins, as the aim here is for you to sample the entire style spectrum gin has to offer, through understanding gin through the ages.
Kevin is not only our resident gin expert, he is also a great story-teller who will keep you entertained throughout. Kevin’s approach has always been that you have fun, and leave having learned quite a bit without noticing that you were being taught.
This course is perfect for existing gin lovers or for those who want to learn more about this versatile spirit, in a relaxed environment. This evening makes a great present and can be bought as a Gift Voucher for just £32.50.
