Chateauneuf-du-Pape Wine Tasting (ONLINE TASTING)
This fascinating virtual wine tasting evening will focus on the classic wine region of the Southern Rhone Valley in France and the stunning Syrah grape (aka Shiraz in Oz), as well as its best friends Grenache and Mourvedre. The evening will cover an overview of all the different appellations of the Southern Rhone Valley and an explanation of the different styles of wine produced there. I will share my findings about current winemaking practices, marketing and tourism, and bring you right up to date with this dynamic and exciting wine region.
This will be a tour through some of France's most well-loved region, the Rhone Valley, with a special hello to superb Chateauneuf-du-Pape. We will explore the elegant, aromatic and full-bodied whites as well as the infamous red wines of the region! But let's face it, the Rhone is first and foremost home to the wonderful warm, bold and spicy reds produced from Syrah/Grenache/Mourvedre blends such as Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Cotes du Rhone.
Let's find out together about the SOUTHERN RHONE VALLEY and its gems! You will discover first-hand what makes these wines so special and learn how to pick up a bargain or two ... surprises guaranteed! ;-)
I would recommend buying in advance: 1 bottle of a white Chateauneuf-du-pape OR Cotes du Rhone and 1 bottle of red Chateauneuf-du-pape OR Cotes du Rhone and opening those wines LIVE with us on the night. You can buy a white Chateauneuf-du-Pape at Majestic and Virgin Wines. White Cotes-du-Rhone wines are available at Tesco (Guigal is one of my top producers and it's on sale there for £10 right now!), as well as Waitrose, and Sainsbury's Taste the Difference has one too in their range.
You can pretty much buy a red Chateauneuf-du-Pape in all supermarkets, from Tesco to Morrisons, even Aldi! Sainsbury's even has THE amazing Chateauneuf-du-Pape from Perrin & Fils at £23. Not cheap, but one of the finest out there :-) unless you want THE real deal and their Chateau de Beaucastel (100 points/100) from Robert Parker at £80 in Waitrose ;-) For a much cheaper option, go for a red Cotes-du-Rhone instead (Aldi offers a Cotes-du-Rhone-Villages for only £5.49, and yes, it's actally good!!!).
You might want to get yourselves some extra mature cheddar cheese and/or some French saucisson too (Waitrose has one with a herbes-de-Provence rind, which is amazing, whilst Aldi has one with a black pepper rind ... both will be in-cre-di-ble with those red wines!). Let's bring some wine fun direct to you and members of your household! ;-)
1 ticket will entitle everyone in your household to attend this tasting (no need to buy a ticket per person!).
