Virtual Italian Food & Italian Wine Pairing Workshop (ONLINE TASTING)

Virtual Italian Food & Italian Wine Pairing Workshop (ONLINE TASTING)

Pairing food with wine should be easy and fun, yet so many people become stressed at the idea of make a wine faux pas. Yet the best part about pairing food with wine is the experimentation and delights at finding a pairing that YOU enjoy

Italy produces the most wine in the world. But Italian wine can be intimidating for beginners due to the unfamiliar names — it's more Nebollio & Verdicchio than Merlot and Chardonnay. But the secret to drinking Italian is… it's all about the food!

We shall pair 2 Italian wines (a white Verdicchio wine and a Ripasso or Appassimento style of red wine, any will do - see below for recommendations) with some mouth-watering Italian nibbles to perfection. So please buy these recommended wines and finger foods in advance, to be opened, paired and eaten altogether on the night!

There are some general guidelines you may find helpful when selecting a wine to enhance your meal, all of which will be studied and tested during this tasting! We'll put the theory into practice by pairing our chosen wines with very carefully selected Italian nibbles, and deliberate which pairing works best for us. What fun!

Have we managed to excite your tastebuds? Then come and join us for a very entertaining evening ... Italian style ... in the middle of your own living-room! ;-)

I recommend buying in advance: 1 bottle of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC (widely available in supermarkets, I know of examples in Asda & Tesco & Sainsbusry's & Waitrose for only £6.50) and 1 bottle of Appasimento style of Italian red wine (Tesco sells Il Passo Segreto Appassimento for only £8.50; Sainsbury's sells Santodeno Sangiovese Appassimento for £8 on promotion right now). If you can't find an Appassimento, then a Ripasso will do nicely too, thank you very much (Waitrose sells my favourite: Valpolicella Ripasso Classico well worth £14, although Morrison's own Valpolicella Ripasso is only priced at £8.50 since it's not a Classico).

For the food platter, I recomment buying in advance: a tub of pesto pasta and a tub of pasta arrabiata (all supermarkets sell those. I know I buy mine from Asda), plus red chili powder, vine (or cherry) tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, vinegar (Balsamic if you can, otherwise a red wine vinegar instead), fresh basil leaves, olive oil, salt, sun-dried tomatoes, salami slices, dolcelatte blue cheese, and a slice of peperroni pizza if you fancy it!!! It's your evening, after all ;-)

PS: nibbles should be presented separately on your food platter. Please do no add oil, vinegar, etc, in advance! We shall do all of that together on the night, as the way you season food changes your wine pairing! Wait to have your mind blown!!! lol

1 ticket will entitle everyone in your household to attend this tasting (no need to buy a ticket per person!).
